Job Details

Objective:
Provide operational, supervisory, and leadership to data entry pharmacy technician staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision of Renal and Specialty Infusion technicians and performs technician duties related to data order entry.  Performs clerical pharmacy activities and related duties as they pertain to recordkeeping, clinical documentation and scheduling of deliveries.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct supervision for all data entry pharmacy technicians, ensuring staff adherence to company and pharmacy policies.  Regularly reviews work product to identify and assess the technical knowledge of the team members. Provides effective coaching and makes use of internal and external resources to resolve gaps in knowledge, expertise, competencies and skillsets (e.g. systems, internal processes, soft-skills)
  • Supervises, coordinates, and/or participate in the duties of non-compounding pharmacy technician including functions related to refilling prescriptions, scheduling deliveries, contacting patients/clinicians, issuing prescription requests, scanning and filing patient records in EMR.
  • Provides feedback on associates’ performance to manager as required
  • Responsible for the selection, training and supervision of all data entry pharmacy technicians
  • Oversees and/or conducts training of new or existing employees. Ensure employees are trained to do their work through both documentation and competency audits
  • Responsible for work assignments according to production plan and making necessary adjustments to ensure patient needs and production plans are fulfilled.
  • Develops and implements action plans to address department deficiencies and improve timeliness and accuracy of work.
  • Maintains knowledge of The Joint Commission standards as they apply to home infusion pharmacy and participates in the accreditation process.
  • Interacts and communicates effectively and positively with staff manager on a daily basis.
  • Conducts duties and performance management in preparation and presentation of performance evaluations for Data Entry Pharmacy Technicians.
  •  Maintains pharmacy records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Inventory Management System
  • Attends and/or conducts designated department meetings as scheduled.
  • Assists in the clerkship education of pharmacy students.
  • Adheres to organization policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates consistent dependability in attendance, punctuality, and schedule adherence.
  • Performs administration duties which include monitoring time and attendance, managing PTO requests, and adjusting departmental work schedules to accommodate production needs.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives related to both quality and efficiency
  • Works collaboratively and in a coordinated way with Pentec Health account executives, nursing, revenue cycle management, and pharmacy team to maximize customer satisfaction and business results.

Secondary

  • Contributes to the enhancement of teaching protocols and manuals for the education and development of pharmacy staff.
  • Performs other duties, special projects as assigned

Authority & Accountability

  • Monitor and quality checks work performed by Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Monitor and seeks opportunities to educate technicians regarding applicable Joint Commission standards.

Education, Certifications, Trainings:
Required

  • Previous experience managing direct reports
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Preferred

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Training in process improvement (Ex. Lean Six Sigma)
  • Experience working with electronic medical records, specifically CPR+
